However, the lack of adequate information and some ideological manipulation of inflexible individuals led to such measures being initially disregarded, fuelling much hostility against doctors, nurses and health technicians, who were on the front lines in fighting the disease and trying to save lives. Mandatory social distancing and strict hygiene procedures initially proved to be the only ways to stop the proliferation of COVID-19. In social terms, the ‘new post-pandemic normal’ paradigm made it clear that the culture of care and self-care needed to become a priority in everyone’s behaviour in order to preserve life.
During the period of the terrible COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, very strong concern and interest was shown about the quotidian value of caring for life and health as a cultural habit to be assimilated.
